I’m a big believer in opening the club face
on most of my chips. That’s just my preference. Other people might do it differently. So here’s
my two cents worth on that issue. Is when you open the club face it’s going to make
you open your stance a little bit. So we’ve gone over closed and parallel and so what
this will do is when I open the club face, wherever I’m facing it’s going to put the
ball further to the right of that. So I have to compensate by shifting my stance a little
to the left. So now I’ve got an open club face, which is going to allow me to hit, actually
swing the club a little harder so I can pop the ball further, higher up. So what this
accomplishes is I can swing harder which gives, it actually gives me a little more margin
for error because by using the height I can kind of float the ball and it lands and doesn’t
roll so much. So the open club face, all it means is here’s what a normal address to the
ball is. We’re opening the club face, so we’re basically turning it to the right so it’s
like that. Here’s normal, here’s open. So there’s open club face right there. So it’s
really a great way to practice your chips. It gives you a lot of control. In these shots
control is a lot more important than anything else so work on your open club face chips
and you’ll see a great improvement in your results or on the greens.
